Exploring a Unusual Steam Demo: Playing as a Poop in a Mission to Arrive at the Toilet

Steam Next Fest is in full swing, and players have encountered a variety of entertaining indie games. However, one is particularly notable for its unconventional concept. Titled Unko Technica, this old-school styled side-scrolling game includes a character that is literally a turd trying to navigate to a toilet. For those curious, "Unko" translates to "poop."

The gameplay is simple: just use a jump control. Across one hundred fifty challenges, you'll face tough enemies and visit a shop to buy skins for your dung hero.

Execute your movements with caution, since one mistake means restarting the level. Bounce on bubbles to hurl the poop higher, traverse crumbling platforms, and touch switches to reveal new areas. Collect UN-KOINS to purchase challenging stages in which the action gets crazy.

In terms of design, the game shows off neon level designs and an amazing music score. Its minimalist graphics of morphing abstract forms could recall gamers of beloved games like Earthbound.

Although difficult to recall other games where you control a dung character, gaming have long included fecal matter. For example, in Death Stranding, you can make throwables from protagonist droppings. Examples include Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved use manure as plant food. Naturally, this theme is present heavily in the adventure The Stick of Truth.

Putting aside its goofy concept, Unko Technica has already earned significant awards, like taking top honors at Bandai Namco's indie contest in 2023. This trial version is available currently on Steam, with the full game planned to arrive on Steam this November.
