Los Merengues attacker Vinicius Jr has expressed regret to the fanbase for his response when substituted in the recent heated match against Barcelona victory.

The Brazilian was substituted in the 72nd minute and showed his annoyance by heading directly off the pitch.

Vinicius subsequently came back to the bench and, following his club's narrow triumph, tried to confront Barcelona's opposing player during unpleasant after the game scenes.

"Now I want to express regret to all the supporters for my behavior when I was taken off in the big match," he posted on X.

"Just as I have said in person during today's training, I would like to apologise again to my team-mates, the team, and the president.

"Occasionally fervor gets the better of me because I continuously aim to triumph and assist my side. My winning mentality comes from the affection I hold for this team and each thing it stands for."

Vinicius moved to the Spanish capital from Flamengo in 2018 for a significant fee and has notched over a century of strikes in numerous matches.

But his prospects in the La Liga is far from certain with speculation in lately indicating that Los Blancos would contemplate permitting the player move on if they got a good proposal.

When Vinicius was taken off on the match day, broadcast footage from network the service captured him stating: "It's always me! I'm leaving the team! It's better if I go, I'm leaving."

In his new post on social media, Vinicius commented: "I promise to keep battling at all times for the benefit of Real Madrid, as I have performed since the very beginning."
